Health fair attracts more than 1000 visitors in Xinavane

The village of Xinavane, Manhiça distric, in Maputo province, hosted a health fair on June 29, in an initiative by AMDEC, in partnership with the organization Doleurs Sans Frontieres and the Ministry of Health.

The fair is part of the project to strengthen “Universal Access to Quality Health Services for Chronic Patients”, implemented in the provinces of Maputo and Sofala. More than 1000 people attended the event, where various health care services were provided to the general population and chronically ill people, with emphasis on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, blood pressure, glycemia and cholesterol, as well as: Dissemination of knowledge that allows the population adopt good practices regarding nutritional health, psychosocial support and family planning and; Promotion of good eating practices using locally available products, the importance of food in preventing and combating diseases, through culinary demonstrations.

The initiative aims to promote access to quality healthcare and increase levels of community adherence to quality healthcare services, through educational sessions. This is the third fair of its kind, with 13 more fairs scheduled, in the province of Maputo alone, until the project ends in October 2023.
