Girls from Magude engaged for the reduction of vulnerability to early marriages

AMDEC is training 60 vulnerable girls and young women, from the district of Magude, in the skills and knowledge necessary to develop income-generating activities, aiming at their economic empowerment and improving living conditions. The action is part of the project “Strengthening community networks to eradicate early marriages in the District of Magude”.

It is expected that, with the training, the beneficiaries, aged between 15 and 24, will have the ability to: identify business opportunities in their communities; manage your finances responsibly; promote and market your products or services; create and execute realistic business plans and; communicate effectively and work as a team.

The girls come in total from the towns of Magude-Sede, Motaze, Maguiguane, Cuamula, Matchabe, Eduardo Mondlane, Heróis Moçambicanos and Ungubane, with 6 members per community. The initiative's priority group has an emphasis on: girls or young people responsible for families; orphans or single mothers and; teenagers who dropped out of school (who have writing and reading skills).

The project, “Strengthening community networks to eradicate early marriages in the District of Magude”, implemented in partnership with EnraizaDerechos, aims, among several objectives, to strengthen the technical and economic capabilities of girls at risk of dropping out of school, in order to guarantee continuity and permanence in school, as well as reducing the risk of premature unions.
