History

AMDEC arose from an initiative by a team of employees from a French non-governmental organization, ESSOR, to create a national organization that would continue the activities implemented by ESSOR in the country. With its support, AMDEC began to take over ongoing projects in 2003 and in 2004 began the process of their legalization. The current Executive Director participated in this entire process.

The focus of its activity in 2004 was the strengthening of grassroots community organizations. It went through different phases in its consolidation process and, in 2006, began implementing a project in the City of Maputo, as a subcontractor for ESSOR.

In 2007, he began implementing projects directly, in addition to those he did in partnership with ESSOR. One of its reference projects was sanitation and drainage in one of the neighbourhoods of the City of Maputo, and it also began collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Action, through the Directorate that oversees the area of social action and early childhood education. , the Municipal Council of the City of Maputo, National Council to Combat HIV/AIDS (CNCS).

It has maintained partnerships with different organizations and partners, which has allowed it to continue its activities to this day. In this process, it expanded its interventions to the provinces of Gaza, Inhambane and Sofala.
